The island’s capital, George Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture, vibrant street art, and rich multicultural history. Walking through George Town’s narrow streets, visitors can admire the colourful murals, visit historical sites like Fort Cornwallis and the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, and explore a variety of religious landmarks including Kek Lok Si Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia.

A culinary paradise, the island is celebrated for its diverse and flavourful street food, which reflects Penang’s multicultural heritage. Hawker centres and street stalls serve an array of mouthwatering dishes such as char kway teow (stir-fried rice noodles), laksa (spicy noodle soup), and nasi kandar (rice with various curries). The bustling Gurney Drive and the vibrant food markets in George Town are must-visit spots for food enthusiasts eager to sample the island’s renowned cuisine. Penang’s food scene is a testament to its unique blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European influences.

Beyond its cultural and culinary attractions, Penang offers stunning natural landscapes and recreational activities. Batu Ferringhi, a popular beach destination, features golden sands and a range of water sports, while the Penang National Park provides opportunities for hiking through lush rainforests and exploring secluded beaches. The Penang Hill offers panoramic views of the island and the mainland, accessible via a funicular railway.
