An Introduction to Alexandra
Born in Paris, I’ve always had a natural curiosity about the world and a love of discovering new places, people and cultures.
I’ve always enjoyed experiencing a destination beyond the obvious sights—wandering through streets, discovering local food, soaking up the atmosphere and getting a feel for how people actually live. Exploring cities across Europe and Asia has given me a real appreciation for different cultures and traditions.
Japan has held a special place in my imagination since childhood. My fascination began with Shogun, which introduced me to a world that seemed so wonderfully different from my own. I was captivated by the elegance of the Maiko and Geisha, the history and honour of the Samurai, and the incredible landscapes. When I finally visited Japan, it was every bit as magical as I had imagined—and perhaps even more so.
Then I visited Korea, and that was when I truly fell in love with the country. The people, the food, the history, the music, the dramas, the traditions and the incredible energy of everyday life—I loved it all.
For me, travel is about much more than ticking places off a list. It’s about the experiences you have, the food you discover, the unexpected moments, and the memories you bring home with you. I love finding those special details that can turn a holiday into something genuinely memorable.
That’s what makes travel so exciting to me, and why I love sharing my enthusiasm for Japan, Korea and the many other incredible places around the world. There is always somewhere new to discover, something new to experience, and another story waiting to be told.
Q & A with Alexandra
What's your most memorable travel moment?
One of my most memorable travel moments was a warm Sunday afternoon in Seoul, during the Jamsu Bridge Walking Festival. The usually traffic-filled bridge is closed to traffic during the weekend in June and opened to pedestrians, creating a rare calm, quiet, festival like, atmosphere in the heart of the city. Families, cyclists and couples strolled across the Han River with music in the air and the sun shining overhead. Afterwards, we stopped at Starbucks at the Wave Seoul, overlooking the water, and had coffee while watching the city slow down for a moment. It was the perfect blend of everyday life and something quietly extraordinary—an experience that captured everything we love about Seoul.
Where would you like to travel next?
It’s a tricky question but also simple.
From my recent travels to Japan and Korea I have learned a few things, like, as much as you would like to you will never be able to see everything you want in one trip
Having visited two of the world’s most beautiful countries—Japan and Korea—I’ve come to realise that truly understanding their cultures means exploring more. I want to see more places, taste more food, get wonderfully lost, and keep learning. From the steaming hot springs of Beppu in Japan to the pristine white sands of Gwangalli Beach in Busan, Korea, this is exactly what my next adventure will be. Taking wrong turns, making new friends, and discovering new things—that’s my kind of heaven!
What do you never travel without?
When I travel, there are a few things that I simply wouldn’t want to be without. First is my phone—it’s my camera, map, translator, diary and connection to home all rolled into one. I also always pack comfortable shoes because I love exploring on foot and discovering the little streets, cafés and hidden corners that you can easily miss otherwise. And finally, I never travel without a good pair of headphones. Whether I’m listening to music on a long journey, catching up on a podcast or simply enjoying some quiet time, they’re one of those small comforts that make travelling that little bit more enjoyable. They may not be the most exciting things in my suitcase, but I certainly wouldn’t leave home without them.
